I ume you are talking about climate conditions. Maritime generally means influenced by an ocean (which tends to limit the variation between highs and lows and often increases humidity) and temperate means it's in the zone that has alternating warm and cold periods (as opposed to tropical where it's always warn or polar where it's always cold).
